The air in the library grew thick, smelling faintly of ozone and old parchment. Elara held her hand out, palm up, as a single drop of obsidian fluid materialized from thin air. It didn't spill; it hovered, pulsing with a soft, violet light. With a flick of her wrist, she dragged the droplet through the empty space before her. The Ink stretched like taffy, forming loops and curves that defied gravity. As the pattern completed, the ink solidified instantly into a small, spectral fox made entirely of swirling calligraphy. It yipped, a sound like rustling paper, and bounded onto the table, its tail leaving a trail of shimmering script that faded seconds later.
